The 2023 Betfred Super League regular season came to an end this weekend. With under a month to go until England’s opening match against Tonga at St Helens, here is a look at how some of the England players performed.

Wigan Warriors’ victory over Leigh Leopards saw them lift the League Leaders’ Shield. Jake Wardle scored one of Wigan’s two tries during the 10-6 contest.

Morgan Smithies and Kai Pearce-Paul had huge defensive stints, making 51 and 49 tackles respectively.

Jack Welsby stood out for St Helens during their win against Hull. Welsby made 217 metres from 15 carries, with the full-back scoring twice.

Alex Walmsley made his return from injury. The prop suffered an injury during St Helens’ defeat to Leigh in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final. Walmsley made 113 metres from 12 carries.

Mark Percival scored during the win. The centre made 141 metres from 14 carries.

Hull KR booked themselves a home play-off match after defeating Wakefield.

Mikey Lewis was in devastating form, making 6 clean breaks, 4 try assists, score one try and making 278 metres.

Jez Litten scored two tries after coming off the bench. The hooker made 98 metres from only four carries.

Despite not scoring Ash Handley and Mikolaj Oledzki both made big metres during Leeds’ final round victory. Oledzki made 153 metres from 16 carries, meanwhile, Handley made 161 from 15 carries.

York Valkyrie and Leeds Rhinos will face each other in a repeat of the 2022 Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final in two weeks time. 

Tara Jane Stanley was among the scorers for York during their 22-8 victory over Wigan.


Tara Jones opened the scoring for the Saints in the second Betfred Women's Super League Semi-Final. Emily Rudge also was on the scoresheet, despite on the losing side.

Caitlin Beevers scored during Leeds' fightback, which was rounded off with a try in golden point to snatch victory.

 

In the NRL, Herbie Farnworth scored a double as the Brisbane Broncos defeated New Zealand Warriors to book their place in the NRL Grand Final. They will face defending champions Penrith at 9:30am (UK Time).

In the NRLW, Georgia Roche also sealed their place in the Grand Final. The Knights will face Gold Coast Titans at 5:55am (UK Time).
